tucked into the forest just a few miles south of tahoe city, pineland is one of the west shore’s most charming and established neighborhoods. developed begin ning in the 1940s, the community grew around ward creek with an emphasis on simple mountain living, generous wooded parcels and easy access to the outdoors. many of pineland’s earliest cabins were built after world war ii using locally available materials, helping establish the classic “old tahoe” character that remains part of the neighborhood today.
architecturally, pineland is an appealing mix of original mid-century cabins, classic chalets and thoughtfully remodeled or newer mountain homes. steep rooflines, exposed wood, stone fireplaces and cozy lofted interiors are common features, while many of the older seasonal cabins have been expanded and winterized over the years. the result is a neighborhood that feels refreshingly eclectic rather than planned or uniform—very much in keeping with the personality of tahoe’s west shore.
at the heart of the neighborhood is kilner park, with pickleball and tennis courts, a playground, basketball and open space, while nearby ward creek and its surrounding public lands offer additional trails and recreation. the west shore bike path connects pineland to sunnyside, hurricane bay, tahoe city and miles of shoreline beyond.
today, pineland remains prized for its level streets, sunny forested lots, recreation and laid-back west shore lifestyle. close to the lake and tahoe city yet tucked away from the bustle, it offers that increasingly rare combination of convenience, history and authentic tahoe character.
calling all west shore enthusiasts and pickle ballers this pineland chalet delivers the tahoe lifestyle in a location that’s hard to beat—set in a greenbelt park setting that literally backs to kilner park, with pickleball, tennis and recreation just beyond the backyard. hop on the bike path for quick and easy access to sunnyside, hurricane bay, shadyside lounge, fire sign café and all the favorites that make the west shore so special.
the inviting 3-bedroom, 3-bath chalet blends classic tahoe character with thoughtful updates, including a remodeled kitchen and baths, new flooring, granite countertops and updated cabinetry. at the heart of the home, a dramatic river-rock gas fireplace anchors the great room, while the loft above adds that quintessential mountain-cabin feel. the main level offers two bedrooms and a bath, with an additional bedroom, bath and loft upstairs.
a newer wraparound deck extends the living outdoors, while a charming covered bridge connects the chalet to a substantial addition featuring an oversized two-car garage with a spacious studio above—ideal for guests, a home office, overflow sleeping or added rental flexibility with the property located in placer county, the combination offers intriguing rental potential for buyers looking to maximize their tahoe getaway.
outside, the large, level and sunny lot offers something increasingly rare on the west shore: room to breathe and plenty of parking. a circular driveway, two-car garage, level back yard for lounging, small fenced area for pets, and a huge storage shed provide space for all the tahoe toys.
offered mostly furnished and ready for immediate enjoyment, this is an easygoing west shore retreat with personality, flexibility and one seriously fun backyard.
