It’s home to Hogle Zoo and Ruth’s Diner — the second-oldest operating restaurant in the state. Up the canyon a few miles, its shaded patio is a cool oasis on a warm summer evening. Ruth’s has been featured on a number of national television programs. This is the Place Heritage Park commemorates the location Mormon pioneers entered the valley in 1847. And nearby is Red Butte Garden, an exquisite botanic preserve. It’s also home to the city’s most intimate outdoor concert venue. Bicyclists love Emigration Canyon area for its challenging rides and proximity to downtown Salt Lake City. Hikers appreciate the extensive trail system. The area offers one of the more scenic drives in the Salt Lake area as well. Forbes magazine has ranked Utah the No. 1 state for business four out of the last five years. Salt Lake County is the home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake of the MLS, University of Utah Pac-12 athletics, and was the host of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
