Country house, 3 rooms, Vieira do Minho, Louredo
Secluded 3-bedroom house located in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, in a truly unique setting, nestled within a native forest with stunning views over the Caniçada Reservoir. Designed by Ainda Arquitectura and completed in 2017, the project was a finalist in the National Wood Architecture Award, thanks to a concept that blends architecture and nature in perfect harmony.
With a gross construction area of 143.5 m², set on a plot of over 25,000 m², the house is laid out on a single floor. It includes three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, two bathrooms, and a shared living space with an open-plan kitchen and living room. The exterior is dominated by a spacious wooden-slatted veranda that runs along the facade, extending the interior living space and framing the surrounding landscape.
Elevated on a set of pilotis to minimize the impact on the terrain and to raise the house above the trees, the construction features extensive use of wood—from the main structure to the varnished solid wood frames and white-painted ceilings. The interior color palette draws inspiration from local natural elements: greens and blues of the river and vegetation, and browns and ochres of the earth.
The property has access to spring water and is self-sufficient in firewood, reinforcing its sustainable character. Just 1 hour and 15 minutes from Porto, this luxurious mountain retreat is remote enough to guarantee complete tranquility, yet close enough to enjoy all nearby amenities. The proximity to the Cávado River, streams crossing the land, and native forest surroundings provide a truly immersive and unique nature experience.
